Why ASIST?

Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training

The ASIST training has been developed and continually refined, by "Livingworks Inc." over the last 20 years - in order to help ordinary people to feel more comfortable, confident and competent - to recognise a person at risk of suicide - and to provide a suicide "first aid" that will save their life.

Even being able to admit to, and share with you, the reasons why they are considering ending their life, will help you - to help them, avert the immediate risk of an avoidable suicide occurring. ASIST trains caring people like you, to just be able to have that kind of conversation, safely, with a suicidal person.

This refined intervention model recognises how crucial it will be to the longer-term safety of the person at risk, to be able to quickly access further help from either their own resources and/or from emergency mental health services if need be. It will help you to feel more confident that you can actually make that happen.

ASIST will provide you with a prescribed, safe and effective intervention model - to work through with a suicidal person - that works.

You might only ever need to use it once in your lifetime but even that one occasion, will mean, that the benefit lives on.
