About usASIST is part of Wealden, Eastbourne and Lewes (WEL) Mind's training portfolio and was originally developed by LivingWorks Education in Canada 25 years ago. Lewes District & Wealden Mind (now WELmind) introduced ASIST to England in 2003, in recognition that there were no courses outside of front-line services, available to all caregivers (any person in a position of trust). WEL Mind has been at the forefront of introducing innovative courses from around the world, including: - Mental Health First Aid (MHFA), from Australia in 2006
- safeTALK (a 3hr LivingWorks suicide awareness program) from Canada in 2007
- BRIDGES (a peer-led, self help recovery program) from Tennessee in 2008
Due to demand outside our area of benefit, WEL Mind's recent changes has enabled us to deliver courses anywhere in England. Please see our website www.welmind.org.uk for more information about our services. The WELmind ASIST Training TeamWELmind has some of the most experienced ASIST trainers in England and offers a diverse team of skilled trainers, from a variety of backgrounds; including senior mental health professionals and informal carers. This means participants can receive additional benefits from directly experiencing how the skills learnt in ASIST are applicable across all sectors of our communities. All WELmind ASIST trainers are LivingWorks accredited and adhere to our commitment to provide the highest standard of training and meet our quality standards as a Local Mind Association. All of our trainers are supported in their work, attend development sessions and are covered by relevant public liability and professional indemnity insurance. |
